What is colorful, fun, practical and looks great on everyone? A hair tie from Cure for a Bad Hair Day. This Middlebury based Etsy shop opened just over a year ago and owner Meg Madden tells us that she has already sold over 24,000 hair ties! What a great success story!
How did The Cure come to be? Out of personal necessity. Meg is a busy mom, active, and needed a way to keep her hair back comfortably, without pulling or damaging her hair. Then came Meg’s light bulb moment….. just order 250 yards of elastic!
The Cure hair ties are crafted from soft, stretchy colored (non-latex) elastic. They are gentle on even the finest hair but strong enough to manage the thickest locks out there (like mine).
Upon receiving hair ties from Meg I put a small one in my daughter’s baby fine hair. My two and a half year old then played, rolled around, and napped in the car. I was amazed that I never had to re-do her hair. The Cure hair tie stayed in place and was clearly comfortable (as well as adorable).
I shared these hair ties with friends and here are their reviews:
“I loved them! I have thick hair and so when I use a regular hair tie I usually have to use two to hold it all up! With these I didn’t have to do that! I love the colors and sparkles (totally fun for the little one)! I loved that when I take them out at the end of the day my hair wasn’t being ripped out like the traditional hair tie!! Will be putting these in a couple stockings this year!” ~Desiree
“I really like them both for the girls and myself! They are cuter than the regular black ones I usually use, they don’t seem to pinch and irritate Brooke as much. They don’t leave the super annoying ponytail marks. I think they are a happy marriage between the new hair ties and scrunchies of the 90s!” ~Jessica
My nieces gave me their thoughts:
I have used The Cure hair ties for a few weeks now. I have used them while working out, with wet hair, dry hair, to look “dressed up”, and I can not say enough about them. The elastic is very soft , doesn’t get tangled in my hair, and doesn’t get super stretched out (even after using them for weeks). I have had many friends comment that they want to try The Cure too!
You will find The Cure hair ties in a rainbow of colors… literally. Meg has over 100 colors as well as glitter hair ties and tye die hair ties. Pink, blue, green, and more. She also makes no slip headbands which are perfect for children and adults.
The Cure begins and ends with Meg. She is managing her Etsy shop, printing & hand-cutting labels, packaging product and shipping orders, photographing new items, answering emails, cutting elastic and tying knots, knots & more knots. I did let her know that I am available to help at anytime. I can see why she is so passionate about what she is doing. She is putting out great products!
Think of Meg’s products when you need a party favor, a birthday gift, a stocking stuffer. She is happy to work with you to find the perfect color and to create a custom order.
In addition to hosting a giveaway for Try Vermont First fans Meg is extending a 15% discount on all Etsy orders through January 31st with the code TRYVT2013.
