This blog post has been a year in the making! Even before Skida owner Corinne Prevot sent me a box of great Skida samples I adored the colorful fabrics and the designs that are both eye catching and appealing.
Skida began in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom in 2007. At the time Corinne attended the Burke Mountain (Ski) Academy and decided to make hats for her teammates and friends. It didn’t take long for everyone to fall in love with Skida and want their own. Corinne’s mom Marge stepped in to help turn Skida into the growing business that it is today. Corinne estimates that Skida has sold more than 50,000 pieces since her start.
Skida makes hats, headbands, neck warmers, and bandanas for men, women, and children.
The Nordic Hat, pictured above, is made from a lightweight fabric that can easily be worn under a helmet. The fabric is both breathable and able to wick away moisture. This is my fall hat and I also wear it when snowshoeing on a sunny winter day.
This hat is perfect for the long cold days of winter. For our family being outside everyday is a must, and we also must be warm. Skida’s Alpine Hat is lined with soft fleece and keeps your body warm and toasty. I asked my friend Christine to share five words that describe Skida and she said “Warm, breathable, bright and well-made.” My five words would be “Gorgeous, durable, quality, Vermont made“.
What’s your favorite color? I am sure that you can find a Skida product in every color of the rainbow with patterns that are fun, playful, lively, and simply beautiful. I think that it would be very appropriate to have a Skida hat in every color that you love, and one for each mood that you might be in. Lavender would be my everyday hat, Shadow Paisley would be my special occasion hat, Annabelle would be for days with extra determination. I would like to give Carpe Diem as a gift for friends. Or Extra Blue. Or Floating Flowers. There are too many to choose from!
Skida has a new kid’s collection too. I love the Country Girl pattern. Though Shark Bite and Galaxy are pretty awesome too!
You can find Skida not only across the country but all over the world. Look for Nordic Olympian Liz Stephen and Alpine USST member Nolan Kasper wearing Skida! Corinne is going to send Skida products to TWO Try Vermont First readers. Enter below to win a gift from Skida!
